A Note of Explanation

Most of life seems to involve bland routine. Get up, get to work, making work happen, come home, do what has to be done at home and then get some sleep. Repeat. Running in the background of all that is the question "Won't something great, wonderful, new or different just happen somewhere on this planet?" I guess that I complain enough about this that people have told me that I am never going to be happy until I open the newspaper one morning to read "Bigfoot Captured Alive - This Time It's Real - No Fooling!" or "Alien Space Creatures Found -Irrefuteable Proof Established!" It's not that I believe in Bigfoot or Space Aliens, it's just that I would love the novelity of something weird and unexplainable being, well, explained and proven true. I am so tired of the real truth, i.e., "Another Kindly Old Wall Street Tycoon Exposed as Ripoff Artist!", excetera.
I mean, I'm 57 years old, I get that life is mostly hardwork, unfairness and pain. Is it wrong of me to hope that on just one of those 100,000 plus days of the average person's life that a Unicorn would show up in Times Square? I'm not that hard to please, I would settle for one living Ivory Billed Woodpecker showing up for a National Geographic photographer in an Arkansas swamp.

Anyway that is what my blog is all about. Looking at the potentially true, weird and wonderful on this planet.

I travel a bit on business to some different sorts of places. I am going to try to report on the odd things I come across. For instance, last summer I was in Killeen, Texas just a day's drive from the Giant Sink Holes that have appeared in the town of Wink, Texas. Pretty odd and somewhat spectacular on the natural phenomena list, but not quite good enough for this blog. I am on my way to Sacramento, CA on Thursday so let's see what I can find there.
